Coming from a family of an artists, Mayi Penaflorida has left her own mark in the world of Philippine contemporary art. Taking inspiration from Sandro Botticelli and Leonardo Da Vinci, Mayi pays homage to her artistic heroes by injecting her own style and charm onto creative work. The whimsical innocence of Mayi Peñaflorida’s works cast a calming effect, a light-hearted piece of art that cleanses the viewing palette. Given that women and children are her favourite subjects, Mayi’s portraits are composed with a gentle and playful demeanor. Their magnified heads and large eyes twinkle with wonder, and their subtle smiles exude an enticing charm. Their petite bodies are often clothed in intricate drapery that emphasise their fineness. Since 2013, Mayi has exhibited in several galleries in the Philippines and abroad, and her work has been featured in a number of publications and reputable blogs. Mayi, who comes from a line of artists, currently resides with her family in Indang, Cavite.
